Seniors very real concerns when it comes to selling of their property
Seniors are a wide ranging group with wide ranging concerns and attachments when it comes to selling their property. Oftentimes the sale of their property is a first time occurrence and the anxiety and deep attachment to the property is simply because it is their home filled with memories. The other main issue with the sale of a Seniors property is that oftentimes they don't want to sell but they may be forced because of failing health or a chronic illness such as arthritis which impedes their ability to function in the home.
About 15 years ago my parents sold the home I was born in and moved to a condo that was primarily occupied by seniors. We all had attachments to the home but looking back it was the best decision they could have made. They were still healthy enough to play a round of golf, swim, play bocci and enjoy the many amenities the facility had to offer. Including a club house where residents celebrate many events. Today my Father has passed on but my Mother who is now 84, no longer plays golf but has built relationships with many people and is flourishing in this environment.
Seniors relationship to their property is very different from the younger set and it is an exceptionally stressful process. However, I can tell you first hand that once my parents transitioned to a place that was bustling, exciting, and populated by people they could forge friendships with, they realized how isolated and difficult their previous existence had been.
The other upside for seniors is they no longer have to struggle with the upkeep of a single family dwelling and lets face it in the Lynbrook- Malverne area the homes are older and require a good deal of maintenance. Once they are able to make the transition they not only boost their social lives but frankly have more time to enjoy their golden years and that is what life should be all about.
