Curran hosts Consumer Fraud Forum for Malverne Residents

Assemblyman Brian Curran, along with New York State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman’s office, recently held a consumer fraud protection
forum in Malverne to inform residents about useful tips to avoid being victimized by
harmful or illegal practices.

Village of Malverne Mayor Patti McDonald was present
at the event and reiterated her office’s support for consumer protection planning to
residents.

Assemblyman Curran said the seminar provided information to attendees about how to protect
themselves while buying used cars, hiring home contractors, obtaining a mortgage,
purchasing items online and other items that put consumers at risk of misleading information.

The attorney general’s office prosecutes businesses and individuals engaged in
fraudulent, misleading, deceptive or illegal practices. Part of the office’s mission is to
provide information to consumers to seek and ensure a fair and vigorous marketplace.
