Lynbrook Middle Schools Host Health Fairs

At the Lynbrook School District’s middle school health fairs, students attended educational presentations by healthcare professionals who spoke about the importance of making sound choices.

At Lynbrook North Middle School, students learned health-smart insights from a registered dietician, a chiropractor, Lynbrook Fire Department EMTs and police officers from the MTA K-9 unit. In addition, Lynbrook High School physical education teacher Rob Kolb spoke to students about bicycle safety.

At Lynbrook South Middle School, seventh- and eighth grade peer leaders assisted teachers and health care professionals, who targeted their presentations to sixth-graders. Students received healthy lifestyle tips from a dentist, massage therapist, yoga instructor, personal trainer and a seeing-eye dog trainer. They also attended presentations about drug and alcohol addiction, nutrition, fire safety and first aid.  Peer leaders demonstrated how to perform CPR and helped home and careers teacher Judith Rivlin prepare healthy snacks for the sixth-graders to sample.
