Lynbrook’s Luke Germanakos Wins State Championship

It has been a very good year in track and field for Lynbrook High School junior Luke Germanakos. At the state championship meet at Cornell University on March 1, Luke earned the state championship title in the 600-meter run with a time of 1:21.31. Earlier in the season, Luke earned county championship titles in both the boys 600-meter run and 300-meter run on Feb. 4, and finished with the fifth-fastest time in the country for the 600-meter run at the 2104 New Balance Games on Jan. 25. Luke was also named to the 2014 MileSplit NY Indoor All-Star Boys Team. With his teammates Kevin Cribbin, Griffin Kreit and Billy Lithen, he also won the county championship in the 4x400-meter relay.
