On Tuesday, June 17, 2014, FASNY (Firefighter's Association of the State of New York), presented Christopher Aresta the Gerald J. Buckenmeyer Volunteer Scholarship. In 2014, the Scholarship Advisory Committee awarded fifteen $1,500 scholarships to high school seniors from around the state entering college. FASNY scholarships are awarded to those students who fit the program’s criteria, focusing on a strong volunteer commitment. Chris' family has been volunteer firefighters for over 60 years. He plans on joining the Malverne Fire Department when he turns 18. Chris will be attending Farmingdale State College this fall, majoring in Criminal Justice: Law Enforcement Technology.
