No. 95 — Check Out Sportime

The sixth installment in the "100 Things to Do in Lynbrook" is to check out Sportime, located at 175 Merrick Road in Lynbrook.

This place has so much to offer kids and grown-ups alike. Many people still associate this place with Tennis Time, but Sportime is much more. Sportime officially opened in September of 1998. If you are a longtime Lynbrook resident, you will remember the tornado of Labor Day 1998, when, in the transition phase, Sportime’s roof received damage from this tornado. But Sportime was able to make repairs quickly and still open in September of that year.   

The Sportime facility has five hard court tennis courts, a 7,000 square foot multi-sport gymnasium, a 6,000 square foot indoor turf field, group exercise studio and a full service health club that has all the latest equipment for strength and cardiovascular exercises. The facility is impeccably clean and welcoming. This is a great place for the whole family to visit, with a lot of different things that you can do.

I personally have visited this place on numerous occasions with my children — one of my son’s birthday parties was here. We picked this place because they have so many different options to choose from and each one is fun for kids of all ages. They offer multi-sport themed, tennis, rock climbing, dance or pool parties. Each of their packages include your invitations, thank you cards, pizza, soda, juice, paper goods and party favors. All you have to bring is a cake.

The staff was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. They made sure that the children had a great time; they even get to go home with a t-shirt with your child’s name and date of party on it, a big hit for the kids.  

For parents looking to stay fit, you will want to go and spend some time here. Whether you are looking for group exercise, personal training, swimming, and more, you will find something here. If you enjoy Tai Chi, aerobics, dance, yoga and even learning self-defense, this is the place to go. Sportime is considered to be a world-class health and fitness facility.

After a hard day at work or at the end of your work week, put your mind and body at ease by visiting their full service spa. Have a massage, get a facial treatment; they even have acupuncture here and a nutritionist on hand. You will not find a better equipped facility than this.
