A Wild Time at the Lynbrook Library

Children get up close and personal with exotic animals courtesy of CSTL.

Maybe they have similar stuffed animals at home, but chances are most of the 45 or so children at the Lynbrook Public Library on Wednesday hadn't seen a real bearded dragon or ball python prior to that.

Lea Hennelly of the Center for Science Teaching and Learning (CSTL) at Tanglewood Preserve brought five exotic animals to the library to present to the children, who were between the ages of 2 and 5.

Hennelly brought along a red-eared slider turtle, a bearded dragon, a blue-tongued skink, a ball python, and, for the faint of heart, a cute little bunny named Mama. Children and adults alike enjoyed petting the animals, especially Mama.
