Blizzard Hits Malverne and West Hempstead

By Sunday evening Malverne and West Hempstead were covered in snow while some residents ventured outside.

The blizzard picked up steam as it continued to drop heavy amounts of snow across Malverne and West Hempstead Sunday evening.

By 4p.m. the neighborhood was covered with a thick blanket of snow about 4 to 5 inches. The latest predictions from NOAA-National Weather Service say Malverne and West Hempstead will receive total accumulations of about 18 inches once the blizzard ends Monday morning.

As the sent out its plow and salt trucks, and the and put its workers in place to battle the blizzard, the snow kept most residents indoors. Although some did brave the weather to rush out for food and supplies, dig out their cars, shovel pathways and even play in the first major snowfall of the winter season.

Take a look at the photos of the blizzard around the neighborhood and upload your own pictures here.
