Dec. 18: Sanitation Schedule Changes, School Board, Toy Drive, and More

A look at the top stories for this Tuesday in Malverne, Lynbrook and West Hempstead.

Here are the top five headlines for Dec. 18.

  1. Sanitation Schedule Changes: The village of Malverne will be taking a different approach this year to collecting residents waste and recyclables during the weeks of Christmas and New Year's. Learn more later today.
  2. School Board: The West Hempstead Board of Education will hold its monthly business meeting tonight at 7:30 p.m. in the high school videoconference room. Look for the agenda later this morning to see what they will be discussing.
  3. Toy Drive: The Lynbrook Recreation Department is holding a toy drive this week to help local families who are in need enjoy Christmas. Drop off donations of new, unwrapped toys at the Rec Center inside Greis Park between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. from now through Friday.
  4. Student Awards: The Malverne Board of Education recognized a number of high school students for their recent accomplishments at last week's meeting. We'll have the story for you later today. (And don't forget about Wednesday's budget forum at Howard T. Herber Middle School at 7 p.m.!)
