Jan. 16: Armed Robbery, Gun Laws, Prostitution Arrest and More

Here are the top five headlines for Jan. 16.

  1. Armed Robbery: Lynbrook and East Rockaway schools were put on lock down Tuesday after a man with a gun robbed a local convenience store. He's still on the lam. Click here for the story.
  2. Prostitution Arrest: Two more spa workers were arrested in West Hempstead Tuesday for unlicensed massage and  prostitution, bringing the total to six this month. Click here for the story.
  3. Gun Laws: Gov. Andrew Cuomo signed into law Tuesday the nation's most comprehensive gun control legislation in response to the massacre in Newtown, Conn.. Find out later this morning what NYS Assemblyman Brian Curran thinks of the bans.
  4. Malverne Supermarket: A special exception hearing will be held at Malverne Village Hall Thursday night at 8:30 p.m. to determine whether the vacant Associate supermarket will turned into a "general market." The meeting is open to the public.
