Malverne Bible Church 'Branches' Into Thrift Shopping

Branches of Hope opens up but it's much more than a typical thrift store.

The Malverne Bible Church opened the doors to the new Branches of Hope Thrift Store on June 28.

The brainchild of Pastor Tom Carpino’s wife, Kathy, this converted gymnasium feels more like a boutique than a church store. With its rows of beautiful hand-selected jewelry, toys, books, household items neatly arranged on shelves, new and nearly-new clothing for men, women and children and convenient, private dressing rooms, you get the feeling of being in a quaint specialty shop.

Putting her personal touch on the décor, Kathy also scours fabric stores to find the perfect material for her hand-made doll clothing, just right for dressing American Girl dolls without the hefty price tag.
