Malverne Girl Scouts Refurbish Old Mailbox

The new mailbox is for old, worn out American flags only.

Three local girl scouts have given an old Malverne mailbox a new life.

Mary Kalb, of Valley Stream and Danielle Aresta and Abigail Fitzsimmons, of Malverne, re-designed the mailbox with an American flag. The new flag drop box is for old, torn and worn out American flags.

The girls, all from Troop 2023, completed the project for their Silver Award.
The Silver Award is designed to give the girls a chance to show that they are leaders who are organized, determined, and dedicated to improving their community.

The box was recently placed in front of the Malverne Police Department on Church Street. An unveiling ceremony was attended by the girl's families and the Malverne Mayor Patricia Norris-McDonald.
