Malverne Remembers September 11th Victims [Photos]

Community gathers for candlelight vigil on 11th anniversary of 9/11 attacks.

It was 11 years ago Tuesday that four Malverne residents were among the nearly 3,000 murdered by terrorists on Sept. 11, 2001.

The passage of time though has not dimished their families' losses nor the memories of their loves ones, which burned bright in the place they called home Tuesday night.

Joined by several Malverne residents, elected officials, and local clergymen, they gathered near the village's 9/11 memorial in Reese Park for a candlelight vigil.

The touching ceremony included prayer and song. And as the names of the victims -- Scott Bart, James Haran, Jacqueline Donovan, and Diane Urban -- were read, their families were invited to place flowers upon the memorial.
