Malverne Teens Tackle Hunger in Souper Bowl

The Our Lady of Lourdes Youth ministry raised $3,300 in this year's Souper Bowl.

While most of the country spent last Sunday glued to their TVs (or their Super Bowl boxes) a group of teens devoted their time to helping others in a different in a type of Bowl.

Members of Our Lady of Lourdes Youth Ministry participated in the Souper Bowl of Caring, a nation-wide initiative that collects contributions to provide food for soup kitchens each Super Bowl Sunday.

For yet another year, the teens stood outside Church after each Mass, asking parishioners to donate whatever money they could to helping others. This year, they collected over $3,300 from the generous churchgoers, which will be distributed equally between the INN and the Bread of Life soup kitchen in Brooklyn.
