Photos: Hurricane Irene Hits Levittown

The local area experienced lasting damage from Hurricane Irene.

Hurricane Irene swept through Levittown late Saturday into Sunday. Fortunately, damage was not as severe as expected, but residents and businesses were left with lasting impacts through Sunday afternoon.

Several Levittown Patch reporters roamed the streets of Levittown to take photos of downed trees and street lights without power in the area. More will be added as time progresses.

LIPA is currently reporting outages in 7,092 Levittown homes of 17,358 served, as of 4:19 p.m..

The pictures should include captions stating which street/area they are from.

Why so you can go stare at someone else's misery? Or to keep some kind of morbid score of who was hit worse. Let it be that it happen and not to you and be thankful. If it was a friend of yours you will find out in time. Let's put the license plate and names of everyone in car accidents they show on the traffic reports as well. Ridiculous comment.

Why arent we talking about 7-11 on Hempstead Trpke charging 14.99 for a case of water or gas on the corner of hemp trpke and Gardiners going up 20 cents overnight. Talk about price gauging and taking advantage of a natural disaster. Where are those pictures?

I agree with Mac. Take note of these theives and make your voice heard to them by not frequenting them so they realize this is not welcome behavior
