Volunteering is Sweet: Land Trust Treats Farm Helpers

The Nassau Land Trust thanked some of the Grossmann Farm volunteers with a potluck dessert.

After years of sitting barren and deserted, the historic Grossmann's Farm in Malverne is thriving once again.

The restored barn looks impeccable, crops can be seen sprouting from the ground and the farm's offerings and hours continue to expand.

These are the fruits of much labor done by farmer Bill Walsh and the Nassau Land Trust, the non-profit hired by Nassau County to manage the farm it aquired, but with the help of many local volunteers.

To thank these gracious helpers for their hard work, the trust held a dessert potluck on June 22 at the farm. It was a small, casual affair, but it gave the helpers a chance to relax, spend time chatting together and share in some sweet treats.

Check out the photos and visit Patch tomorrow (and every Friday) to learn about what the farm is selling this week.
