Weird News: Whitestrip Bandit Busted; Man Uses Funny Money

Pearly Whites

A Bellmore man was arrested this week for allegedly stealing Crest Whitestrips from CVS and Rite Aid, according to police.

On Thursday, a CVS clerk at the store allegedly watched the man take the popular teeth whitening product before running out the front door without paying.

Cops eventually caught him when after pulling over two men for reckless driving a witness to the theft was able to identify the passenger as the man who stole the strips.

Cops said the man did indeed have the stolen of Crest strips, as well four more boxes that had Rite Aid labels on them.

Funny Money, Meet Sweet Tooth

A Baldwin man faces 12 forgery charges after he was caught using counterfeit cash at a Rockville Centre pharmacy, according to Nassau County Police.

Detectives said Steven J. Loetterle, 31, of Baldwin, bought a candy bar at the CVS on Sunrise Highway using a counterfeit $20 bill. Loetterle was found with several counterfeit twenties when stopped by police.

A Library That Requires Earplugs?

Port Washington Public Library recommended earplugs Friday evening for those with sensitive ears.

Normally a quiet retreat, the library's unusual offer to those who can't get no satisfaction comes in advance of a performance by the Rolling Stones tribute band Streetfighter.
