A caravan of LIPA utility trucks and supervisors converged on Groton Place on the morning of March 26 in preparation for the final phase of a much needed electrical upgrade in the area.
For the past several days, linemen have been mapping out new grids, placing new poles and stretching hundreds of feet of new wire.
Tuesday morning LIPA workers knocked on doors making notification that power would be turned off for a short time while the new circuits were joined together. Crews worked diligently for about an hour and power was promptly restored.
The new work combines a number of grids and should lessen the chances of outages in the area.
