West Hempstead Broncos Host Full Day of Football [Photos]

Youth football and cheerleading program celebrates homecoming.

The West Hempstead Broncos football players, cheerleaders and fans brought energy and enthusiasm to the field Sunday as they celebrated their annual homecoming.

The day kicked off early with the Peanut team (5 and 6 year olds) playing at 9 a.m. followed by the Pee Wee (7 and 8 year olds) game at 10 a.m. The Broncos took a break from the football action around noon to host an introduction ceremony, where each team ran from the end zone to the 50-yard line, receiving a spirited reception from the Broncos cheerleaders and their adoring fans.

NYS Assemblyman Ed Ra, Hempstead Town Supervisor Kate Murray and Receiver of Taxes Donald Clavin all attended, as did a representative for Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano who delivered a citation to the league.

After watching a performance by the Broncos cheerleaders and posing for a group photo, the Midgets (9 and 10 year olds) hit the field to take on their competition. The full day of football continued with the Ponies' (11 and 12 year olds) game and culminated with the Seniors (13 and 14 year olds).
