Curious about East Rockaway & Lynbrook History?

The Historical Society of East Rockaway & Lynbrook is hosting its 5th Annual Retrospective at the Lynbrook Library. Historic photos, maps, scale models of East Rockaway’s Grist Mill and Lynbrook’s Bristol & Mexico Shipwreck Monument, DVD’s of oral histories of local residents. Come see a recent acquisition of East Rockaway’s history which will be on display.  Exhibit is open 6:30 pm to 9 pm, Wed & Thur., June 6 & 7 and Mon. - Thur., June 11-14.  The library is located at 56 Eldert Street/Carpenter Ave.

Join us for "An Evening With Writers of Local History" on Tuesday, June 12th at 7:30 pm. Featuring a local fourth grader, Dava Kielb, who will be one of several local authors who will share their inspiration for writing. Dava’s story entitled A Night at the Old Grist Mill Museum was inspired after a visit to East Rockaway’s Grist Mill Museum two years ago when she was a second grade student at Rhame Avenue School.  Her story began as an assignment following a class trip. Come hear her story as well as the other authors!
