An advance screening of an upcoming Disney Channel original movie will be shown in Lynbrook on Sunday.
The surf-rock musical “Teen Beach Movie,” which stars Ross Lynch and Maia Mitchell, will be displayed at the Lynbrook Movie Theater. It will be shown after the stars of the film team up with Verizon and Disney to help clean up and restore parts of Far Rockaway Beach in Queens, which was one of the beaches heavily impacted by Hurricane Sandy.
Volunteer employees from Verizon and Disney will help in the general beach clean-up as they plant flowers and shrubs, paint and refurbish benches. After the clean-up project, the volunteers will join Verizon customers at the Lynbrook movie theater for a pre-screening of the movie, which will premiere on the Disney Channel on July 19 at 8 p.m.
The film follows teen surfing sweethearts Brady (Lynch) and McKenzie
(Mitchell), who together ride the last wave of summer, one that mysteriously
takes them into a classic beach party movie, Wet Side Story. Find out more about the film here.
Verizon customers were able to pick up tickets to the pre-screening at FiOS stores in Hempstead, Flushing, Elmhurst and Manhattan, according to a press release from Verizon.
Far Rockaway beach is located at Beach 17th Street and Seagirt Blvd.
