13-Year-Old West Hempstead Boy Arrested in RVC LIRR Mugging

West Hempstead boy second of two juveniles arrested for robbery.

A 13-year-old boy from West Hempstead was the second juvenile arrested in connection with a robbery that occurred at the Rockville Centre Train Station last week.

The arrest was made Wednesday, one day after Nassau County Police arrested a 15-year-old boy from Rockville Centre as the first suspect in the crime.

Both defendants are being charged with robbery in the second degree.

Police said that on May 5, a 36-year-old female was walking in front of 100 N. Centre Ave. after coming off the train when she was approached from behind by two suspects.

One of the suspects picked her up and threw her to the ground, police reported. The second suspect allegedly took the victim's phone from her hand and they fled on foot northbound on N. Centre Avenue.

The victim sustained cuts and bruises to her face, legs and arms as well as a laceration over her eye. She was taken to an area hospital for treatment.
