Body Found at Hempstead Lake State Park

Body found in area where 28-year-old woman went missing on Father's Day.

A body was found floating by a fisherman Thursday evening at Hempstead Lake State Park.

Police have not yet confirmed whether the body is 28-year-old Catherine Brady, who went missing after last spotted on Father's Day in the North Pond area of Hempstead Lake State Park.

State Park Police, New York State Police and Nassau County Police had conducted multiple searches of the grounds and lake with negative results before the body was found by a fisherman in the North Pond.

According to Newsday [paid link]:

       The remains were spotted about 6:30 p.m. in the North Pond, in an area that was "very inaccessible" due to overgrown vegetation, said state parks police Chief Richard O'Donnell. 

Brady, who has a Garden City address, has been living in the park, according to multiple reports.
