Astoria Bank Hosts Free Shredding Day

Astoria Federal Savings reached out to the community and hosted a free Shredding Day late last month, giving South Shore residents an opportunity to securely dispose of sensitive documents in an environmentally friendly manner.

At Astoria Federal’s Rockville Centre branch, staff members from several nearby branches were on hand to assist residents by carrying boxes of their sensitive and confidential papers to the mobile shredding unit. Parked in the Astoria Federal Savings lot, the Cintas
Document Management mobile unit gave participants a clear view of their documents as shredding was in progress.

Collectively, the community brought nearly two tons of paper to be shredded helping to reduce the risk of identity theft.
