Business Q&A: Assisi Veterinary Hospital

Pet under the weather? Bring them to see Dr. Guzman in Malverne.

Dr. Rick Guzman has been a practicing veterinarian for more than ten years. On June 11, 2007, he opened in Malverne. The hospital is a full service, state-of-the-art facility offering “high quality care for all your pet’s needs,” according to the Assisi' Web site. Here, Guzman explains why you should bring the fluffiest member of your family to his Hempstead Avenue location.  

Patch: What kind of services do you offer?

Dr. Guzman: "[We offer] routine exams and vaccinations, sick/emergency exams, orthopedic and soft tissue surgery, dentistry, chemotherapy, carbon dioxide laser surgery, internal medicine, ultrasound, digital dental and full body radiography, radioactive iodine treatment for hyperthyroid cats, ultrasound, therapeutic laser treatments, and cardiology (specialist consultations available by appointment only). [We also offer] telemedicine, prescription diets (renal disease, weight management, joint health, ect.) bathing, grooming, boarding, house calls, and USDA interstate and international pet travel certification."

Patch: What do you like about operating in Malverne?

Dr. Guzman: "[We have] friendly, intelligent, [and] informed clients. [I also enjoy the] small town atmosphere."

Patch: Are you currently offering any specials?

Dr. Guzman: "[In Aug., we are offering] Dasequin large-breed chewable joint supplement, 84 count, [for] $65. [We are also offering] one free month of Frontline [flea control] when you buy three months and two free months when you buy six months. When you buy six months of Revolution [flea control], you get two months free. If you buy a year, you get three months free." 

Patch: What can customers find on your Facebook page?

Dr. Guzman: "Our Facebook page is the best place to stay in the loop on promotions, specials, adoptable pets and general care tips for your pet. Oh, and really cute pet recipes, videos, photos and stories."

What do you think makes Assisi Veterinary Hospital successful? 

Dr. Guzman: "We treat our patients as if they were part of our family. The utmost importance is given to respecting owners and their pets. Our job is to inform owners and let them make educated decisions about their pet’s health."
