Business Q&A: Mimi's Creative Kids Child Care

Whether it’s Pre-school classes or birthday parties, Mimi Grabovenko wants to bring out your child’s creative side.  As founder of on Vincent Avenue in Lynbrook, Grabovenko offers a variety of classes for both infants and toddlers. But the fun doesn’t stop once Kindergarten comes to call. Mimi’s also offers birthday parties, giving kids the opportunity to celebrate in creative ways. Here, Grabovenko explains what makes her business so successful.  

When were you founded?

We have been providing a safe and nurturing child care and learning environment for the families of Lynbrook and the surrounding communities since 1995.  After 17 years of success in Lynbrook, we have opened a second location in Brookville.

What kind of classes do you offer?

We offer part-time and full day classes for infants, toddlers, and Preschoolers. Each class focuses on skill development [that is] appropriate for the age group. The highlight of our program is the phonics curriculum, which introduces the children to the letters and sounds of the alphabet through animal characters and hand signals.

What is your most popular class?

Our most popular class is our Preschool class. This class is for the children preparing to enter Kindergarten the following year. The curriculum for this class is closely aligned with the new Common Core [Learning] Standards to ensure a smooth transition into any Kindergarten program.

What are your birthday parties like?

Our parties all involve an arts and craft activity [such as] plastercraft, T-shirts, sand art, and picture frames. We offer theme parties that include princess and pirates, construction and building, and much more.  We also work with parents to create custom theme parties. Party packages include pizza and drinks.

When should parents sign their children up for fall programs?

Fall registration starts in January and continues until classes are full.
