Green Olive Bistro Has Customers Coming Back For More

The family friendly restaurant has been open for just four months, but loyal patrons have already dubbed it an affordable favorite.

is new to the neighborhood, but with original and traditional Italian meals at affordable prices, many locals are stopping in to enjoy the comforting food and pleasant atmosphere.

Owners Joe Genova and Tony Canale both have histories in Long Island Italian dining. When the men joined forces and opened Green Olive Bistro in July of 2011, the restaurateurs knew what they wanted to provide to their customers.

“We designed [Green Olive Bistro] with families in mind,” Genova said. “We created our menu with affordable prices for that reason.”

While Green Olive Bistro features a pizza display counter like that of many local pizzerias and takeout restaurants, this eatery invites you to sit down and dine. The restaurant features several seating areas with both booths and tables.

When frequenting Green Olive Bistro during its popular dinner hours, repeat customers have picked their favorite dishes. The establishment has only been open for four months, but Cannelloni de Pesce, Chicken Alla Mario and Stuffed Shrimp Bruschetta have quickly become some of the most popular items on the menu. Also recommended are a number of the appetizers at Green Olive Bistro, including Stuffed Mushrooms, Stuffed Artichokes and Baked Clams Oreganata. If you have room after your meal, the Italian Cheesecake and Tiramisu are two must-haves.

If you are looking for a local place to enjoy a cocktail, whether on its own or with a meal, Green Olive Bistro is the place to be with a full bar area. The bar section of the restaurant is sizeable with plenty of seating and television. Happy hour takes place at the bar from 4pm until 7pm and features various drink specials.

As for the future, Genova has several ideas in mind. Starting in November, Green Olive Bistro will begin a “Badge Night” once a week. Anyone who carries a badge – police officers, firefighters, etc. – will receive special discounts.

The less immediate future may bring a larger restaurant or even a sister location.

“We always have expansion on our minds,” said Genova.
