Long-Abandoned West Hempstead Gas Station Demolished
Gulf gas station on corner of Hempstead Turnpike and Westminster Road had been abandoned since 2005.

One of two long standing eyesores in West Hempstead was demolished Monday afternoon.
The abandoned Gulf gas station on the northeast corner of Hempstead Turnpike and Westminster Road was leveled by a contractors bulldozer.
The building has stood vacant and in disrepair since a fire in back in December of 2005.
The adjoining Mobil station on the opposite northwest corner appears to be the next target of the wreckers ball, as workers made preparations Monday for its imminent demise.
