Patch reported on the Lynbrook-East Rockaway Soccer Club's intent to start a . Many volunteer coaches have come forward, but not yet enough interested players to form a league.

On Wednesday, Gov. Andrew Cuomo made his , calling for spending cuts to Medicaid, establishment of competitive aid funds for school districts, and a state spending and property tax cap. Assemblyman Brian Curran, R-Lynbrook, and Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos, R-Rockville Centre, seemed to support the governor's vision, while Rockville Centre schools superintendent Dr. William Johnson expressed concern about a possible property tax cap.

All 11 seniors in Lynbrook High School's Science Research program . The students will learn how well they did in the near future.

Though the forecast called for possibly 7-9 inches of snow from Friday to Saturday, the Lynbrook area saw only a light covering by Saturday morning — a far cry from upstate, where some ski resorts are reporting 10-12 inches.
