Malverne Kids Enjoy Breakfast, Bowling and Movie with Santa

Santa spends time with families on the day of the village's annual holiday lighting.

Before riding his sleigh down Hempstead Avenue in the annual Lighting of Malverne Elf Parade, Santa Claus spent Saturday morning and afternoon hanging out with local kids around the village.

The man in the red suit started off the day by visiting with families during three back-to-back Breakfast with Santa sessions at Grace Lutheran Day School and the American Legion Post 44. One-by-one each child had a chance to tell Santa what they wanted for Christmas and pose for photos on his lap.

Santa also made sure he stopped by where kids enjoyed free movie screenings of Hotel Translyvania, sponsored by the Malverne Merchants and Professionals Association.

From there, Santa headed to nearby San Dee Lanes, where he surprised young bowlers by making a grand entrance, walking across the alley's lanes. Then, he took turns bowling with the kids, even throwing some strikes, while his helpers passed out candy canes.

Any child who didn't get to see Santa during the day, could also spot him in the parade later that night and visit with him inside the Malverne train station.
