Malverne Resident Launches 'Jason & Juliana' Baby Clothing Line

Website launched on June 26; resident operates business from home.

Your baby will never feel as soft and look as fashionable again.

Resident Claudia Miletic has launched a new baby clothing business called “Jason & Juliana,” which operates right out of her Malverne home. Miletic uses Pima cotton, an “amazingly soft and durable” fabric that is usually found in high-end retail stores such as Bloomingdales and Nordstrom.

Products include bibs, diaper covers, blankets, burp cloths, hats, mitts, underwear and more.

“It's truly a fine, classic and basic line,” Miletic said.

Miletic launched her website on June 26 and has been selling online since then. She said she has been selling “through word of mouth” on her online store and has a showroom set up as well at her home.

Although she worked in finance and accounting since graduating from college in 1998, Miletic would return to the family business she knows so well. Miletic grew up in Peru where her grandmother had a children’s clothing store and her mother, father, aunt and uncle all followed in her footsteps, opening up their own store.

“Eventually, my parents, sister and I, came to the US and my aunt and uncle continued the business focusing mainly on manufacturing,” Miletic said.

She worked full-time but after having a son in 2008 and a daughter in 2011, she said she had a change of heart.

“I was torn with being a full-time-working-mom and tried to find a balance,” she said. “I felt more compelled to spending time with my children while they are small.  I stopped working in August of 2012 and had to really figure out what my next step would be.”

Her options were to either look for another job, “working for someone else and spending time away from her kids,” or she could use her expertise in accounting along with her background in clothing to build a company and a brand for herself and her family.

She chose the latter and the result was the recent launch of “Jason & Juliana” putting her ideas and business plan into action.

“I just secured the first boutique that will be carrying my line called Paddy Bunks in Locust Valley and will deliver the first order next week,” she said.
