Malverne Responds To Chase Bank ATM Fee Hike

Chase Bank has begun charging $5 in some states to non-customers for use of their ATM's. Would you pay $5 to use an ATM from a bank other than your own?

Chase Bank will begin charging higher fees for non-customers to use its ATM machines, according to the New York Daily News and Wall Street Journal.

Chase currently has the second-largest ATM network in the U.S. with 16,000 machines. The new fees will be nearly double the national average, which is between $2.30 to $2.60, that other banks charge non-customers for withdrawals.

Non-Chase customers in both Illinois and Texas will be the first to start forking over higher fees to use the convenience of the bank’s ATM machines to withdraw cash. Chase has not yet said whether it would expand the fees nationwide.
