New Daycare Center Cuts Ribbon

Glen Head's Little Bumble Bee Daycare features Saturday night hours, offers full- and half-days.

Owning her own daycare center has been a dream Alissa Jackson has had since she was 17 years old.

"I just love working with children," she said.

Jackson runs the daycare out of her home, which includes a fenced-in backyard serving as an outdoor play area. Her staff is licensed by the state and all are certified in CPR and first aid. They use development-appropriate curriculum catering to each child's age.

Hours of operation are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., with a "Date Night" program available from 7 to 11 p.m. on Saturdays. Jackson offers programs for full- and half-days, before- and after-school and summer.

Day Care in the basement = Fire Hazard just waiting to happen imo.

@Sally- You couldn't be more wrong. If there was even a chance of a "Fire Hazard", they would not be able to have opened the Day Care. That gets checked more then once before the place or any place is able to open its door for business. And keeps getting checked over time to make sure everything is safe. No Business is allowed to open if there is any Hazard! This place is 100% safe or it wouldn't be opened for business.
