No. 79 — Check out Swyrl Frozen Yogurt

One of 100 things to do in the village.

No. 79 in the Patch series, “100 Things to Do in Lynbrook,” is to check out Swyrl Frozen Yogurt.

Jason Lipset is the owner of this cold-treat spot here in Lynbrook. Swyrl came to Lynbrook almost a year ago, in August of 2010. Lipset tells Patch that he opened this store “after being inspired by the self-serve frozen yogurt shops that he saw in California.” “People seem to love the 'as much or as little, as healthy or as fun as you want' concept." Since you are paying by the ounce, you only are paying for how much you take. “For health-conscious adults, it is portion control and for kids (and the kid in all of us) it is make-your-own-sundae to the extreme.”

Swyrl’s offers you eight soft-serve, non-fat, low-fat and no-sugar-added frozen yogurt flavors. They offer 40 different toppings to choose from, including natural fruits and even candy treats. They also have the traditional sundae toppings.

Lipset tells Patch that Swyrl is a business that cares about the community. In addition to their yogurt, Swyrl features bright colors, lively music and a dynamic lighting and video element such as their “Swyrl Wall,” showing dynamic video content that changes in real-time to include photographs, product images and community messages, such as “Way to Go, Owls” when the team wins a game or “Congratulations, Lynbrook Seniors” for graduation this past weekend.

Swyrl likes to communicate with its customers via Facebook, where they post their daily flavors and take customer feedback, very seriously. You can sign up for “Flavor Alerts” which allow people to register their email address on the website — www.swyrl.com — and receive email alerts whenever their favorite flavors are “Swyrling.” Lipset also tells me that “other non-technical, unique touches have gained Swyrl some fans, including their popular homemade toasted coconut topping and “Swyrl-made” waffle bowls, which are made in the back of the store by his very own mother.

Lipset said he loves his location on Atlantic Avenue and tells me that “he looks forward to serving our community, terrific, healthy frozen yogurt creations for a very long time."

Swyrl’s frozen yogurts help your body maintain good health and good digestion. Swyrl's carries some of the largest numbers of beneficial counts of live natural cultures.

Many other frozen yogurts are just ice cream and a mix of probiotic additives. As a result of Swyrl’s cultured and fermented yogurt, even many lactose intolerant people can enjoy this high probiotic, high calcium and healthy frozen yogurt.

Swyrl’s mixes are all certified Kosher and come from the highest quality, all natural ingredients. Most of their flavors are also gluten free.

So the next time you need a cool refreshing treat, why not stop by and pick up a guilt-free one here.
