Brother's Farm in Port on Main Street (next door from Alper's) has the best fruit platters. I don't know how the Choi family does it -- but the fruit is always perfect (even the melon!) and still tastes great a day or two after purchase. Every platter is made to order. We've tried the fruit platters at every other market in Port and I do a lot of shopping at Whole Foods, but Brother's is the place for consistently excellent fruit.

I tend to like H.C. Bohack's the best. Great produce.
Whole Foods has the best selection of organic produce and hormone-free meat. I'm grateful to have convenient access to these foods for my family.

King Kullen in Glen Cove for general prices & double coupons, and I like their willingness to donate to local charities via receipts. I bring mine to the Animal Lover's League. North Shore Farms for what can only be described as their "altar to the cheese gods" and usually excellent prices on produce. I like that they carry high end and gourmet items that are hard to find elsewhere - if I want fresh sliced mangoes, REAL Swiss mueslix instead of granola, Twinings Lapsang Souchong tea, Greek olives or a wedge of British stilton, that's the place.
