This Week's Best Local Gas Prices

Every Monday, Patch steers you to the gas pumps in Malverne and West Hempstead with the lowest prices.

This week you'll find the lowest price for regular gasoline in the neighborhood at the station on Hempstead Avenue in West Hempstead. While most other pumps are charging $3.09 per gallon, you"ll only pay $3.07 at American, assuming you pay with cash. Sure, it's only a couple of cents, but you'll see the savings go up as you fill up you tank.

If you must use a credit card, the in Malverne on Hempstead Avenue, across from Grossman's farm advertises that it charges the same price for cash and credit. This station took second place prize for cheapest regular gas, along with five other stations in the area:  in West Hempstead on Hempstead Avenue, OK Petroleum and Mobil, both on Westminster Road in West Hempstead, and the Mobil and Hess stations on Hempstead Turnpike. All of these pumps were asking for $3.09 per gallon for regular gas, although , Mobil, and OK will tack on a few more cents per gallon if you pay with plastic. Vega's rate for regular, for example, jumps to $3.15 per gallon.

If you're looking for plus or premium/super gas, you'll find the best prices at the Getty in Malverne and the Vega in West Hempstead, which are both charging $3.19 for plus and $3.29 for super. However, Vega will raise the price if you are paying with a credit card to $3.25 and $3.35 respectively, so unless you have cash on you steer your car to Getty.

Once again, avoid the station across from Hall's Pond on Nassau Boulevard, which had the highest prices for regular, plus and super gas this week, $3.15 per gallon for regular, $3.39 per gallon for plus and $3.49 per gallon for supreme, and these were the prices if you paid with cash, meaning credit card users should expect to may more.
