Wantagh Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza Supporting Sandy Relief Efforts

New restaurant on Sunrise Highway donating 100 percent of its proceeds from Feb. 6 grand opening celebration to support Island Harvest's Hurricane Sandy relief efforts.

The newly opened Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza in Wantagh is giving back to the local community for its grand opening celebration next week.

The The Fort Lauderdale, Fla. -based pizzeria chain is donating 100 percent of its sales from a Feb. 6 grand opening of its new Wantagh location to Island Harvest. The Mineola-based hunger relief organization will be using donations from Anthony's Feb. 6 sales in Wantagh toward local Hurricane Sandy relief efforts.

“It’s important for me to support my hometown of Long Island by not only bringing great food, but by truly helping the community,” said Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza founder Anthony Bruno, a Franklin Square native. “Hurricane Sandy was a horrible disaster that affected my friends, and Island Harvest has done a great job helping those who are trying to rebuild their lives.”

Located at 3430 Sunrise Highway in the new Wantagh Town Plaza, the new restaurant opened in January and is Anthony’s third Long Island location and 36th in the nation. Anthony’s also has locations in Carle Place and Woodbury on Long Island and has plans to open a fourth eatery in Commack this spring.

How is this place, I've heard a few people say it's good.

It has an extensive menu, very large bar, and is NOT your typical take-out pizza place. I'm not qualified to say if it is good or not.

I think its great that Anthony's is giving all its proceeds from the Grand Opening to support Superstorm Sandy victims. I have eaten at their place in Florida and absolutely loved it. I will definitely be dining there very soon!!! Great Job Anthony!!
