After being named one of the top 10 best burgers on Long Island, a West Hempstead restaurant fell just short of the grand prize.
The first annual “Battle of the Burger” contest by Long Island Pulse magazine was held on Sunday, August 4 at Shorefront Park in Patchogue. Eleven finalists were selected, including Burger Bite, which is located at 616 Hempstead Turnpike.
The grand prize winner was announced as PeraBell Food Bar, located in Patchogue. For winning, they received an all expense paid trip to the 2014 South Beach Food & Wine Festival.
PeraBell's prize-winning burger was a 10 oz CAB Burger, which contains white sharp aged cheddar from NY, caramelized Vidalia onions, thick cut apple smoked bacon and their secret sauce on a seeded brioche bun.
Tickets to the contest were $25 and included a tasting of each burger and complementary Amstel Lights and beverages.
