Bargain Book Sale

I've spent hundreds of dollars at the Garden City Public Library. No, it's not from overdue fines, although when my children were little, we borrowed many books and had our fair share of fines.

It's been with the "Bargain Book Sale." Luckily, this Saturday, March 22nd I will go to the next sale at the Library. Hours are 9:30 am to 4 pm. The lower level is filled with a wonderful selection of good quality fiction and non-fiction books for reasonable prices. (Hard cover- 25 cents, soft cover- 10 cents) Who needs Barnes and Noble?

I've collected the "Dear America" books for my grand niece, who loves to read. I've also bought every Anne Rice, Dave Barry and Sara Paretsky book I can get my hands on for my husband. Oh, and gardening books for him as well. I gravitate towards local history and art books. I've also enjoyed buying my books in the book sale section, near the circulation desk on a regular basis.

The proceeds from the sale will help the Friends of the Garden City Public Library to "provide enriching cultural and movie programs, entertaining concerts, educational programs for children, young adults, and adults, beautiful gallery displays, museum passes and updated library equipment," said Joe Furlong, president of the Friends.

The Garden City Public Library is located at 60 Seventh Street, across from the Garden City Hotel and the Garden City LIRR Station. For more information please call 516.742.8405.
