Like it or not, another work week has begun, but we have some good news, fun photos and hope for a victory today in Malverne and West Hempstead. Plus, we give you a treat for your taste buds, an easy but delicious recipe perfect for Passover.

  1. West Hempstead Officers Honored: Over 100 members of the Nassau County Police Auxiliary were honored for their service during a special ceremony Thursday. See what officers from West Hempstead were honored and why Unit 116, which serves West Hempstead, Lakeview, parts of Malverne, and surrounding areas, was among the most awarded.
  2. Malverne Continues Budget Work: Tomorrow night the Malverne Board of Education will hold their monthly business meeting, but their main focus will be the 2011-2012 budget proposal. The budget cuts and overall increase concerned some parents who attended last week's meeting. If you missed it, get a recap later today.

  4. Rams Look For First Win: West Hempstead High School's varsity baseball team has had a rough start to their season, but will travel to Plainedge today in search of their first win. Still, their head coach, in his first year leading the team, sees much potential in his players. for the story.
  5. Malverne Robotics' Big Win:  This week's Whiz Kid award goes to a team of young geniuses at Malverne High School who recently medaled at the School and Business Partnership of Long Island’s (SBPLI) FIRST Robotics Regional competition.
