April 14: Village Budget, Zumba, School Board, Signs of Spring and More

A look at the top headlines and events in Malverne and West Hempstead.

For months, residents in Malverne and West Hempstead have been talking about the school budgets, but tonight Malvernites can also add the village budget to their list of concerns, as the board begins discussing the tentative figures with the public. 
We also show you how West Hempstead students recently raised money in style, celebrate the signs of spring around us and inform you about another school board meeting and a fun Zumba class.

  1. Village Budget: While the school budget in Malverne has been adopted, the budget for the village of Malverne is still a work in progress. The board will hold a public meeting tonight at 7:30 p.m.to discuss the tentative budget for fiscal year 2011-2012. Copies of the proposed budget are available upon request at Village Hall.
  2. St. Thomas School Board: The school board for St. Thomas the Apostle in West Hempstead meets tonight also - at 7:30 p.m. in the faculty room. Stay tuned to Patch for a recap of both meetings.
  3. Fashionable Fundraiser: The West Hempstead High School seniors dressed to impress last Thursday as they walked the runway at a fashion show fundraiser. Take a look at photos from the event later today.
  4. Zumba: Join Gloria tonight at the Malverne Bible Church for a heart-pumping and fun Zumba class. for more details.
