School budgets, sports and springtime fun - that's what is making Malverne and West Hempstead residents tick as they start off another week.

School Budgets Incite Residents:  The school boards in both Malverne and West Hempstead both adopted their 2011-2012 budgets last week and generated some strong reactions from district residents. to watch a video of what the board and the general public had to say at the West Hempstead meeting and learn about the budget residents will be voting on. Then, for a recap of the emotional meeting held in Malverne on the same night, where taxpayers and even some students expressed their frustrations.
  2. Mules Lax Loss: The Malverne-East Rockaway varsity girls lacrosse team battled the Big Red from Glen Cove last week but collapsed in the second half to their tough opponent. Check out the game story and photos at 10 a.m. today.
  3. Hunting For Eggs: Youngsters in West Hempstead weathered a chilly spring morning on Saturday to hunt for eggs at the field at Cornwell Avenue School. Don't miss the adorable photos from the event this afternoon.
  4. Zumba Time: Shorts season will be here before you know it. Get a great workout while having fun at tonight's Zumba class at the Malverne Bible Church. The one-hour session starts at 7 p.m. for details and the schedule for the rest of the week.
  5. Enjoy Fine Long Island Wine: Tickets are on sale for the Malverne Civic Association's wine tasting event called an "Evening of Good Taste."
