April 8: Lynbrook Crime Report, High School Sports
Five things you need to know today.
The following are five things you need to know today in Lynbrook and/or on Patch:
1 — Check out Patch's story about the two steel beams from the wreckage of the Twin Towers that was transported to the village yesterday. The two beams will eventually become a part of the village's 9/11 memorial.
2 — Stay tuned for the village police report, courtesy of the Lynbrook Police Department. See what incidents have recently taken place in the village.
3 — Leaving work early today? Why not head over to watch the varsity girls softball team take on Mineola? The game is being held at 4:30 p.m. at Atlantic Avenue field (next to the Lynbrook District Office). The varsity boys lacrosse team travels to Glen Cove for a 4:15 p.m. game.
4 — Looking for something to do tonight? Head over to St. John's Lutheran Church for some BINGO. It's $5 for two BINGO sheets (two cards) and refreshments ($2 for each additional sheet). Call the church at (516) 599-0778 for more information.
5 — Tomorrow, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Lynbrook Fire Department is hosting a recruitment drive in the Earle Avenue parking field. Those interested in becoming a firefighter or junior firefighter should attend this event, as Lynbrook firefighters will be on hand to provide information and live demonstrations of what the all-volunteer department does each day.
After that, head over to to watch the varsity girls lacrosse team take on Kennedy Bellmore at 2 p.m.
