That has been the question on many Malvernites mind this week, while in West Hempstead, residents are still wondering when the local school board will make a decision about its vacant seat.

We look at these issues and other top stories for Aug. 17.

1. MVAC Meeting: A public work session will be held at 7 p.m. tonight in Village Hall, where local officials and members of the Malverne Volunteer Ambulance Corps. will be discussing their service contract and the new MVAC building on Hempstead Avenue. 2. School Board Vacancy: The West Hempstead school board had three options regarding how to handle the vacant seat that opened up when one trustee resigned in June. Now, they have two choices. Get an update on what is happening today.
