  1. Hurricane Preparedness: The Malverne Emergency Management Committee is hosting a free seminar on Hurricane Preparedness tonight at the . Ken English, director, of the Long Island Chapter of the American Red Cross, will begin the presentation at 7 p.m.
  2. Rotary Looks at Lighthouses:The West Hempstead Rotary Club meets this morning at 8:30 a.m. at the at 564 Hempstead Turnpike. Their guest speaker will be Pamela Setchell, president of the Huntington Lighthouse Preservation Society, who will talk about the Huntington Harbor Lighthouse and lighthouses on Long Island. (Is there a connection to the lighthouse project that had been proposed for the Nassau HUB? We can't say but if you're interested in attending, non-members are welcomed to come as guests.) The cost of the breakfast is $10.
