Base Built for Steel Beams at Lynbrook 9/11 Memorial

Village trying for a September unveiling.

Work is underway at the village's 9/11 memorial, where two steel beams from the wreckage of the twin towers will become a permanent addition to the memorial.

Village officials reported Monday that the foundation — which will hold the beams in place — has been installed. The area is currently fenced off behind the existing memorial.

The village is aiming for a September unveiling.
