  1. Malverne's Business District Changes: In December, Patch informed you that the only supermarket in Malverne, Associated, had shut down, but if anyone has driven by the Hempstead Avenue store over the past few days, especially at night, you've noticed signs of life inside. Patch spoke with one of the managers of the new supermarket, which will still be called Associated but will be run by an entirely different team. We also learned that after 30 years of serving customers in the village, one Malverne restaurant will be closing its doors for good this weekend. Patch will have the full story about the changes to Malverne's usually stable business district later today. Plus, at 1 p.m. today see what the main streets of Malverne and West Hempstead look like when the shops lock up and the sun goes down in this week's View Finder.
  2. Rams Begin Playoff Run: West Hempstead's boys varsity basketball team will compete in their first playoff game tonight against Lawrence. The tip-off will take place at 4:45 p.m. at Lawrence High School. Patch wishes the Rams luck as they begin their playoff run. If you can't make the game tonight, check Patch tomorrow to stay up on all the action.
  3. Former Trustee Candidate in Trouble: Andrew Chernoff, a Malverne resident who ran for village trustee in 2005, will be arraigned today on charges of selling illegal firearms. Sources say Chernoff is the owner of Coliseum Guns in Uniondale. Patch will have more details later today.
  4. Mingle with Malvernites: The Malverne Civic Association is holding its Meet and Greet tonight at the restaurant in the village. Enjoy great food and drinks - and company. Learn how you can get involved in Civic projects and meet other members of the village. Click here for more details.
