A look at events happening in the neighborhood this weekend for residents of all ages.

Take a look at what’s in store this weekend in your town and nearby. There is something for everyone here, from the bird enthusiast to the Dora fan in your house. Find something that fits you or try something new!

Where: Valley Stream North High School, 750 Herman Ave. in Franklin Square

What: School production of Guys and Dolls

When: Friday, April 1 at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, April 2 at 7:30 p.m.

Why go: A classic story retold by the talented arts department of VSN. Support the kids and have a great time in the process.

 Morning Bird Walk

Where:  Town Park at Point Lookout, 1300 Lido Blvd. in Point Lookout (516) 987-8103.

What: South Shore Audubon Bird Walk

When: Sunday, April 3, 9:30 am - noon

Why go: Audubon members and bird experts along with nature enthusiasts share their knowledge and insight during this walk. Meet at the southeast corner of the parking lot and bring binoculars. Please note, rain will cancel this walk

Explore Local History

Where: Rock Hall Museum, 199 Broadway in Lawrence

What: A Sense of Place: Long Island History and Heritage

When: Sunday, April 3 at 1:30 p.m.

Why go: Take a trip back in time and learn from the experts at Rock Hall Museum about the rich history that Long Island has to offer.

 Jazz Tribute

Where: West Hempstead Public Library

What: Frank Barbera Trio

When: Sunday, April 3 2 – 4 p.m

Why go: To celebrate “Jazz Appreciation Month” the library is hosting a wonderful event paying tribute to some of the genre’s greatest legends.

 Drool-worthy Artwork

Where: Molloy College Art Gallery, 1000 Hempstead Ave, Rockville Centre (516) 678-5000

What: Food for Thought Exhibit

When: Saturday, April 2 from 10 – 6

Why go: Large-scale copies of still life masterpieces, including some by DaVinci, Caravaggio, Warhol, Renoir and many others, illustrating how food has changed throughout the ages.

Animal Adoption Fair

Where: Broadway Mall, Rte 106/107 in Hicksville

What: Meet Little Shelter

When: Saturday, April 2 from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Sunday, April 3 from 11 a.m.– 5 p.m.

Why go: Visit the store located between Macy's and Target, spend time smooching with dogs, cats, puppies and kittens that are looking for homes, and speak to staff and volunteers about volunteer opportunities and find out how you can support them

Remembering the Civil War

Where: Old Bethpage Village Restoration on Round Swamp Road in Old Bethpage (exit 48 on the LIE);516-572-8400

What: Opening weekend

When: Saturday, April 2 and Sunday, April 3 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Why go: A special day commemorating the 150th anniversary of the Civil War. Members of the 14th Brooklyn Regiment of the NYS Militia will conduct a program including demonstrations, drills,  etc.

Cost: $7 for children 5 - 12 (those under 5 are free), $7 for seniors and volunteer firefighters; and $10 for adults

 Strikes for Schools

Where: Garden City Bowl, 987 Stewart Ave in Garden City

What: Fundraiser for the West Hempstead Elementary Schools

When: Sunday, April 3 from 4-7 p.m.

Why go: This special event includes the shoe rental and unlimited games. Bowling is always a fun time and this benefits a good cause too. Double win!

Cost: $10 per person

Fun Fitness Class for Kids

Where: Ladies Workout Express, 400 Hempstead Tpke. in West Hempstead

What: Free Randirobics for kids

When: Sunday, April 3 at noon

Why go: Treat the kids to a new experience – a free demo class at the gym. This class will have them moving and grooving!

Age:  5 – 7 years

Reptile Adventures

Where: Hewlett-Woodmere Public Library, Gold Hall. 1125 Broadway in Hewlett (516) 374-1967

What: Erik’s Reptile Adventures

When: Sunday, April 3 at 1 p.m.

Why go: A fun filled and educational experience to get up close and personal with some fascinating reptiles and amphibians.

 Early Easter Egg Hunt

Where: Plattduetsche Park Restaurant 1132 Hempstead Tpke. in Franklin Square

What: Easter Egg Hunt

When: Saturday, April 2 1:00 p.m.

Why go: Who doesn’t love hunting for Easter Eggs? This fun excursion includes the Easter Egg hunt, games, raffles and an appearance by none other than the Easter Bunny. Make sure to bring a basket to gather up all you find!

Cost: $1 per child

Bunny Brunch

Also at the Plattduetsche Park Restaurant

What: Spring Bunch

When: Sunday, April 3 10 am – 1 pm

Why go: Celebrate the arrival of spring and have brunch with the Easter Bunny & friends! Buffet brunch, 5X7 photo with the Easter Bunny, live character entertainment & face painting. Wear your best Easter outfit for a spring treat!

 Play with Parrots

 Explore With Dora

What: “Dora the Explorer Live! Dora’s Pirate Adventure”

When: Saturday, April 2 at 11 a.m.

Why go: See the beloved Nickelodeon character Dora live on stage.

Cost: $10 per ticket

Family Fun Day

Where: Our Lady of Lourdes School, Malverne, N.Y.

What:Games, raffles and refreshments for the whole family.

When: Saturday, April 2, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Why go: The whole family will enjoy this day of fun and have the chance to win cool prizes. The event is sponsored by the OLL PTL and is open to everyone.

Travel Back in Time

Where: Old Bethpage Restoration

What:”History Alive”

When: Sunday, April 3 from noon – 4 p.m.

Why go: Take your kids on an “unplugged” adventure! Replace their video games and cell phones with chores particular to 19th century life. The experiences they’ll have will stay with them like churning butter or carding wool. Other aspects of 19th century children’s lives will be on display like play and education.

Cost: $7 for children 5 - 12 (those under 5 are free), $7 for seniors and volunteer firefighters; and $10 for adults
