On this holiday weekend, we’ve found some creative ways to celebrate with your family. Maybe you can start a new tradition this year. 

Go Egg Hunting

Why go:  Continue the tradition or start a new family one by participating in the Easter Egg Hunt. This event is sponsored by the Malverne Merchants and is open to all Malverne residents.

See Secretariat Ride

Where: Long Beach Public Library

What: The film Secretariat

When: Saturday, April 23 at 2 p.m.

Why go: Penny Chenery Tweedy and colleagues guide her long-shot but precocious stallion to set, in 1973, the unbeaten record for winning the Triple Crown. Rated PG. Runs for 123 minutes

Egg Hunt and Lunch

Where: CJ Wellington’s in Franklin Square (30 New Hyde Park Rd.)

What: Easter Egg Hunt and Lunch

When: Saturday, April 23 at noon

Why go: Games, crafts and prizes are included along with your search for some Easter Eggs. Work up an appetite and stay for lunch where kids 12 and under eat for free.

 Easter Party

What: Easter Party

When: Saturday, April 23 at noon

Why go: So many activities in a beautiful setting! Decorate ceramic Easter Eggs, create an Easter basket and meet the Bunny himself. Photo opportunities abound. Lunch is provided, including chicken nuggets and mac and cheese, apple slices, and a delicious cupcake. Favors are also given to each child. Refreshments are provided to adults at no charge.

Get Crafty

Where:  Michaels in Oceanside (3160 Long Beach Rd.)

What: Card craft

When: Saturday, April 23 10 a.m. - noon

Why go: This fun craft utilizes stamps and foam to create a beautiful keep-sake card for Easter. 

Age: 3 and up
