The best events happening this weekend in your area.

Just in time for Mother's Day, we’ve found some fun and interesting things to do with mom this weekend.

You can take her to afternoon tea or one of many performing arts productions going on in our area. There’s also an arts and crafts fair and farmers market for that last minute gift you may need!

What: Mother’s Day Tea

When: Saturday, May 7, noon-1 p.m.

Why go: Kids can treat a special lady in their life to a wonderful “afternoon tea.” Enjoy scones, cookies, finger sandwiches, iced tea and lemonade all brought to you by the “Baking Coach.”

Age: 11 and up, plus one female adult

NUNSENSE

Where: West Hempstead High School

What: Nunsense the MusicalWhen: Saturday, May 7 at 7:30 p.m.

Why go: The West Hempstead Lion's Club presents this hilarious musical about nuns who stage a variety show as a fundrasier.

FARMER'S MARKET

Where: Long Beach City Hall, 1 West Chester St. www.lbfarmersmarket.com

What: The Kennedy Plaza Farmers Market

When: Saturday, May 7, from 11 a.m – 2 p.m.

Why go: You can find just about anything at this amazing farmers market. They will be offering everything from fresh fruit and veggies, to ravioli and sauces. There will be cheese, pickles, flowers and plants, bread, fish, meat and poultry. Even homemade soap will be available. There will also be cooking demonstrations, tastings and live music on the plaza.

SPRING SINGING

Where: St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, 200 Hempstead Ave, RVC

What: Rockville Centre Choral Society Spring Concert (non-denominational)

When: Saturday, May 7, 8 p.m.

Why go: This year’s concert, “Lights! Camera! Music!” celebrates the music of movies and television.

Cost: free

MEET ERICA KANE

Where: Barnes & Noble Booksellers, 91 Old Country Rd. Carle Place (Country Glen Center)

What: Meet and Greet with Susan Lucci

When: Saturday, May 7 at 2 p.m. **Please note – wristbands will be distributed starting at 9 a.m.

Why go: Meet this Garden City native and get a personalized copy of her memoir “All My Life.”

Cost: Free with purchase of the memoir

MUSICAL COMEDY

Where: Broadhollow Theatre Company at Elmont Library

What: Live performance of Emperor’s New Clothes

When: Saturday, May 7 at 2 p.m.

Why go: Two con-men “play the palace” in this breezy musical adaptation of HansChristian Andersen’s well-known satirical tale.

Cost: $10 per ticket

CRAFT FAIR

Where: Eisenhower Park, field 8 at the park entrance

What: Spring Fair

When: Saturday and Sunday, May 7 and 8, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.

Why go: This large fair features a wide variety of vendors selling goods by local craftsmen and artists. There will be something for everyone here from children’s entertainment to that one of a kind find.

FUNNY PLAY

What: “Over the River and Through the Woods” presented by the Wesley Players

When: Saturday, May 7, 8 p.m.

Why go: Over the River and through the Woods, a play about an Italian-American family by Joe DiPietro, the author of I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change has been described as 'deliriously funny.' Check out the Wesley Player’s take on this beloved Broadway show.
